Hi! My name is Ashley Matthews, I am a student midwife from Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). I am very excited to be placed with Midwives of Algoma and to return home to Sault Ste Marie.

I have a background in Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) and currently work as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Labour and Delivery. When entering into midwifery it was the midwives of our community who inspired me to pursue midwifery education. I love midwifery as it is client centered, physiologic based, and focused on empowering birthing people to have informed choices about their bodies, birth and babies!
